The Current State of Hospitality

Here's a warning. If you come to my house and expect to eat, come around the time that our daily supper is dropped off by a kind church person. Otherwise you may be sorely disappointed. Today I packed all my spices. And my flour and sugar. And my oil and various pantry goods. And most of my serving utensils and knives.

And don't expect to staple anything. Or to find a rubber band or a calculator. Or to use a towel to dry with, since only four have been left out, and they have each been claimed by a family member. If you want to wash your hair, you are in luck! You can use one of the many tiny bottles of shampoo that were brought home from a trip. They will not be packed, so I want them all used up before the move.

If you want to play a game, I'm hoping it is one of the three Wii games that we have unpacked or Munchkin or Uno. If you want to watch a movie, I'd suggest the really old version of Batman or Notting Hill or an episode of Spongebob.

If you get a bit chilly at night, don't sleep in my bed. My comforter has been dropped off at Goodwill. And all the blankets have been packed. You'll have to shiver like I do until Basia wakes up in the morning and snuggles with you for a while.

If you're in the mood for some toys, stay out of Brishen's room. The Legos are all in boxes. Stay out of the daycare/homeschool room because tall boxes are blocking access to those toys. In fact that room gets smaller each day because it is now the storage room for piles and piles of boxes. You can hang out in Basia's room, as long as you come really soon. Even her toys are getting packed more and more each day.

This may not be your typical hospitality, but that's about all I can offer at this time, so come on over!
