Yes, this does look worse than it did this morning when all the books were neatly on the shelves. Unfortunately, they were on the shelves without any sort of organization whatsoever. I emptied a box onto a shelf and that was that. School will be starting up again in a couple weeks, and I don't want to have to spend much of our precious time searching for the right book from the current time period we are studying (Ancient for Basia and Medieval for Brishen). That means I have to get the books where they belong. Here are the categories I have thought of so far, and I'll even need to organize them within the categories. There could be a down-side to a literature-rich education and a house full of books!
History: Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern
Literature: Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Modern
Literature: Adult, Brishen's twaddle, picture books, easy readers, easy chapter books
Grown-up non-history non-fiction
Reference books
Science: Biology, Earth and Space science, chemistry, physics
Art books
Craft books and activity books
Picture albums
Music books
Poetry
Comic books
Brishen's books for daily school
Basia's books for daily school
Melani's books for daily teaching
A spot for library books
I think I need my own Dewey Decimal System, with labels on the bindings, so I don't have to go through this process again!
