That 12-Year-Old of Mine

He won't just pose for a picture, that's for sure.  He most enjoys reading and Legos, which have been his favorites for many, many years now.  He's over half way through 6th grade, where history is his favorite subject.  He continues to be an easy student and will do virtually everything unaided in school.  I do have to watch him, though, because he has been known to breeze through some things in a less-than-acceptable manner if he knows I will never check.  There have been some sure signs that the teenage years are soon to be here.  He has gotten a zit or two.  He is a bit melodramatic more and more these days.  I warn you to never sniff inside his closet where his clothes hamper and tennis shoes are hiding.  He is starting to sweat like a man.  I am starting to notice comments from girls (I did coach 4th-6th grade volleyball girls), although he is happily clueless on that front.  He got to go to his first ever lock-in last weekend, which makes me realize all those real youth events are about to start in earnest.

He enjoys pizza, especially cheese pizza with green chile on it.  His favorite place to eat out is Riviera, where he gets the hottest enchiladas they will bring him.
He currently does Tae Kwon Do 5 days a week and never wants to miss.  He knows more forms than most of the kids who have higher belt ranks than his green one.  He is looking forward to getting a new belt rank in the next few weeks.  He also is on a homeschool basketball team where he is the tallest player.  He is excited for the games to start.
Brishen is one healthy kid.  He had his yearly check-up today, and that made me try to remember the last time he had to go to the doctor for anything but a yearly check-up.  He hurt his finger when he was about 3 or 4, and I truly cannot remember taking him in for any other illness or injury since then.  That's a lot of years of good health!  He measured 5'4" today and weighs about 94 pounds.  That puts him in the 94th percentile for height and the 55th percentile for weight.  He did get some allergy meds prescribed.
Brishen reads a lot, and he would list the following as his favorite book series'.  1.  Ranger's Apprentice 2.  Fablehaven  3.  The Red Pyramid  4.  Pendragon  5.  Eragon  6.  Percy Jackson and the Olympians  7.  How to Train Your Dragon  8.  Grey Griffins Series  9.  The Edge Chronicles  10.  Vampirates  11.  Vampire Plagues  12.  Gregor the Overlader
