Brishen joined many other young people in our church in participating in confirmation classes this semester. For many weeks they have studied, memorized, been mentored, and learned a great deal about our faith, our church, and themselves. The kids went on a mountain retreat. They served others during a day of mission work. I tell you, St. Mark's does confirmation in a really big way. Tonight was the culmination of all those efforts, when the kids were confirmed. They accepted the faith as their own, and they joined the church. It is a coming-of-age celebration in the United Methodist Church, and it really hit me how old my son is getting to be. You can barely see Brishen in the pictures below, but if you click on them to make them larger, you can read the slides to see, in the first, part of the pledge the children made, and, in the second, part of the pledge we made to the children.
