When you get a mail delivery like the one pictured above, it is certainly a good day. When you see a stack of books like the one above and know that someone else is going to be responsible for explaining all those books to your 7th grader, that's also a good day. Brishen's 7th grade curriculum is coming together, and it's going to be a big year with big changes. We have given Brishen a (fairly) rigorous classical education for over 6 years now, and now we will see how prepared he is for some big time learning from someone besides M-O-M.
Brishen is now enrolled in Veritas Press Scholars Academy Diploma Program, which will take him from 7th grade all the way through his high school diploma. Are we still homeschooling? Yes. I am still responsible for some of his subjects: math, Spanish, geography, science, music, logic, and whatever else we can fit into his schedule. As for Omnibus (history, literature, doctrine and theology), Latin, and English Composition, he will be taking those classes live online. He is pursuing their "Honors" degree with hopes of being invited into the "Highest Honors Program". The expectations are so high that he needs to start meeting them in 7th grade instead of waiting for high school. This is what he wants, and he knows that his school life is about to get a lot tougher.
Yes, I am giving up some control. I am following someone else's plan. I am letting someone else tell us if we have met the requirements for each subject. It is going to be a change. However, I am excited for him to learn some subjects from someone who is a lot smarter than I am. I am also excited to see where they can push him academically and to see how he blossoms.

I actually prayed this morning that today would be a good day for you, but was thinking more about the adoption realm. But a good day of books is a good day, too! :)
