You know you wish your child's REAL doctor was the one in the office when you hear the following phrases coming from the other doctor examining your daughter:
"I don't think it's cancer." WHAT??! Were we considering that it might be cancer? Is that the way to break it to me that it was a possibility? Don't get me wrong, I'm pleased that she feels Basia's little lump is benign, but I don't think a pediatrician should mention the c-word in such a flippant way.
"You homeschool?? Does she ever have play dates or get to see other children?" Umm, yeah. I wonder if she knows how uneducated that sounds. If she wanted to check and make sure I'm not some sick-o mom who's hiding my daughter from the authorities and world at large, she probably could have thought of other ways to delicately probe.
The good news: Basia's fine. (I can trust the medical opinion of someone who still thinks that homeschoolers lock their kids in the dark basement all day, right??)

Wait. You let her out of the basement occasionally? What kind of homeschooler ARE you?! ;)
Glad she's alright!
You DID have her dressed in a denim jumper for the appointment, right? :) I can't believe the ignorance. Really. I bet ya Basia could teach her a thing or two!
