Salsa, Anyone?
Basia is available for hire as a personal chef. I would love if you would hire her! That may get me off the hook from eating her, um, creations. She loves to practice her knife skills on the leftover ends of vegetables that I don't plan to use. That's right. She makes lovely salads and salsas using the rinds, stems, peels, and other "goodies" that I don't find fit to put on the family dinner table. I think her skills would be very useful during famines, great depressions, and other REALLY lean times. As a wasteful American, though, I cringe when I have to taste them and tell her how delicious they are. The honest truth is, I usually am pretty surprised that you can't tell it was ends and bits by the time she has chopped and mixed just so. She may be on to something. Let me know if you have a good scrap pile that you don't plan to use as pig slop because she'd be happy to make you a feast out of it. My recommendation? Hurry, feed it to the pigs because she will charm you into trying it!
