Wee One

Wee One will be 9-months old on Thursday, and he has been with us for 6 months.  He is as gorgeous as ever, getting comments about his eyes in English and Spanish wherever we go.  It cracks me up to hear so much praise for his cuteness in Spanish.  I (unfortunately) don't speak much Spanish, but I know enough to understand those kinds of compliments.

He is such a happy little one.  He will crawl all over the living room and play room, finding things to explore for the longest time without complaint.  He has five bigger kids in the family who all run to love on him if he cries.  He also has several "big" siblings who fight over who gets to hold him on their lap, including the 15-month-old.  We do have to watch out for all the hands trying to "help" him.

He still crawls on his tummy, pulling himself along with one arm.  He pulls up all over the place and cruises around the furniture  He has two bottom teeth and now two fangs.  It's a little strange order of tooth growth, but it seemed to fit Halloween.

The cutest new development is that he says, "aaalllll done" at the end of a book or the end of a meal.  His little voice is seriously cute.  He has also repeated other words, including "uh-oh," and "Basia," but I'm not sure he would say them on his own.  He does seem to say "mama," but those who aren't his mama may think he is just babbling.  Of course, I know better!

He is still not a great sleeper.  He really wants a bottle between 11:30 and 1:30 and then again at 4-something before waking up to start his day shortly after that.  Some days I luck out and can put him down to play in the living room and play room while I doze on the couch.  Other times he wants me to be a little more present in what he's doing.

He goes back and forth between preferring baby food and table food.  He LOVES pasta!  He also loves baby cereal, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, and fruit.  He will not eat green beans or peas, whether they are mushed up in a Gerber jar or the more grown-up version.  I think this child will have  sweet tooth.  He thinks Cheerios are pretty good, but he got his hands on some Corn Chex this week, and the child is in love with them.

As far as his case goes, it's likely he'll be here until at least May unless a family member steps in or something big changes.  I'm loving having a baby around but sad that he now fits into the clothes that our first 15-month-old foster child once wore.  He's showing more and more signs that he's not going to stay a baby forever!

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
