We took advantage of the reprieve from 106 temperatures and headed to the zoo:
There were actually lots of meerkats out!
I love that my kids know the whole zoo routine and beg to see the tortoises after the meerkats. I also love that Wee One is now old enough to really enjoy all the animals.
Basia feels that a picture in front of this orangutan is always a must.
The lion was so magestic and walked right up to the glass. The tiger was also magestic and was near enough for all the kids to watch. The elephant was using his trunk to shake treats out of a metal ball. He then neatly gathered them all into a pile with his trunk before eating them. It was neat to get to see the kids watch it all. (Hmm. As I type this I am remembering that my mom, dad, sister, brother in law, and nieces are in Kenya on safari. They may not think these zoo sights are quite as majestic!)
I have to have him face the camera every now and then just because I can post pictures of him now. My son!
Here's my other son. I don't know that hanging out at the zoo with our crew is exactly his idea of a fun day, but he is always such a good sport (except when it is picture taking time, of course). He did the written scavenger hunt to make it more fun for himself and hopes we will soon get the call notifying us that we won the big prize.
It's worth heading to the zoo just for the splash park this time of year. The younger five love it! We just went yesterday and they are begging to go again already.
