Super Hero Overload

Our new guys--I hate coming up with nicknames--are obsessed with superheros.  The one pictured above is possibly not one of the most famous ones.  I am in a whole new world with this obsession.  We have always been pretty select in what our children watch on TV, so this is new to us.  Thing 1 and Thing 2 (OK, they have nicknames) were used to watching cartoons all day long, and they have introduced superhero play into my home.  All my toddlers now run around shooting webs out of their wrists.  All of my toddlers now get into fist fights over the Spider Man easy reader books we have.  All of my toddlers are delighted when they are the first one to grab the Spider Man motorcycle upon waking in the morning.  It's intense.

In fact it's so intense that my Halloween dreams that have been developing since the day after Halloween last year have been shattered.  All my little ones were going to be adorable forest dwellers.  Miss Independent was going to be the cutest raccoon.  I was going to have an owl and a wolf and who knows what else.  Now I am going to have a house full of superheros.  I knew that it would be cruel and unusual punishment to try to get Thing 1, especially, into any costume other than a superhero.  I gave in.  The costumes have been ordered.  I will sulk a bit.  If you can't dress them as cuddly forest dwellers when they are toddlers, I don't think it will ever be happening for me.

If only Jon or Brishen will dress as Super Grover.

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
