I was putting clothes away in one of the bedrooms while a certain 2-year-old of mine was supposed to be playing nicely in my bedroom. I was a little surprised to walk around the corner and see him in the hallway with the giant chocolate bunny that was hidden away for Easter morning for Brishen. I, uh, um, the Easter Bunny was trying to be all clever by having a giant, giant bunny for Brishen, a slightly less giant bunny for Basia, 4 medium bunnies for the four middles, 2 smaller bunnies for the two toddlers, and the smallest bunny of all for the baby. Edison bypassed all of the tiny, small, medium, and large bunnies and went straight for the grand supreme one. His giant ears were no longer existent, and there were other signs of wear and tear by little teeth.
Since the "bunny incident" happened the night before Easter, I had to head out at 10pm to look for a replacement bunny. The first store I hit did not have any more giant bunnies. I almost left to try another store on a great search to replace the giant. I then decided that sometimes things don't work out quite as neatly as planned, and that's life. Instead of a giant, Brishen had a stunted one that happened to be full chocolate instead of hollow. It wasn't quite as impressive looking in the bunny line-up, but I think it probably tasted just fine.
The kids were very much in awe of the bunny line-up!
The were also in awe of getting to sample bunny ears before breakfast.
Basia cracks me up. The only way she could make owning such a huge amount of chocolate bearable was by filling it will the jelly beans she found in the egg hunt. Chocolate, no thanks. Chocolate with jelly beans in it, that's better. I'm pretty sure she won't take a bite of the guy. Chocolate is not her thing. Cassia is the very same way. My boys make up for it thought. Every one of them loves their chocolate.
Above is a picture of the man, Zade today. He is getting growing up so fast. Below is a picture recently shared by my friend, Timber, of Zade on his first Easter egg hunt with us 2 years ago. What a sweet baby!
Talk about growing up...
My friend Angie made and sold these cake pops this year! There cuteness is off the charts!
Zade and Poky Puppy's class made their baskets out of giant cans. I love them and want 7 more!
We were also spoiled a couple days ago with some homemade rolls from Timber and two delicious meals from my mom. We feel so loved!!
We were also egged by my mom. The kids had fun searching the dining room for the eggs that were hidden there, and of course, eating the candy inside!
A few short days ago, I wasn't sure we would be really celebrating much this year because of the nasty virus Basia and Poky Puppy had. By Friday night I started to hope that we would actually be able to make it to church and then have some fun at home. By last night, Brishen and Jon came down with fevers and headaches. Jon still powered through and preached 5 times today, although he was very ready to veg on the couch once he made it home. Brishen stayed home from church with his germs, but the rest of us were able to go. My kids looked adorable, and I got a great picture of them that I wish, wish, wish I could share. My house is overrun with eggs and baskets and little sandals and stray Easter grass, but the kids did surprisingly well for starting on their sugar run even before breakfast was served and getting regular refills. They were so excited to find eggs buried in the sand box long after the hunt ended, and they were very sweet in sharing the spoils with each other. Dominic slept through Jon's sermon once again, but it was a great one that spoke right to my heart. I once again got to sing some of my mom's favorite hymns from my childhood days, which fills my heart with so much joy. Easter is my favorite, and this year turned out to be a good one. We missed getting to spend it with family and friends, but we'll make up for it soon!
