The Baby is 5 Months Old!

The Baby (I cannot think of any decent nickname for him!) is now 5 months old and has been with us for 4 months and 2 days of his life.
He learned to roll from his back to his tummy this month, and he has his first 2 teeth.

Brishen and I both tried and tried to capture this new thing he does, but he only does it when the camera is put away.  He does this bear crawl thing where the bottoms of his back feet are both on the ground, and he straightens his legs, lifting his rear way up in the air.  It looks like he is trying to get up and walk!  Crazy strong baby!  We will get a picture one of these days.

I'm guessing he is not too far away from getting himself around the room with some sort of crawl.  He can go quite far with his rolling and inch-worming, but he hasn't quite figured out how to get where he wants to go.  The wheels are turning, though, and it won't be long.   He can sit up on his own, but he can't yet do it with his back straight so it is more of a 45 degree angle than a 90 degree angle, but he can hold himself up that way for a while.  If he tries to straighten, he tips to one side or the other.  Again, full sitting up is a skill that is not too far away.

He had a follow up visit with his gastroenterologist today for his reflux.  The verdict is in:  he has reflux.  Exactly.  We have known that all along, and three separate tests at the hospital on three separate days didn't tell us any more than that.  He still has to be seen by this specialist monthly to make sure it doesn't get worse or cause him to stop gaining weight or any other problems.  He's grown a ton recently and is up to 15 pounds!  His 0-3 month clothes are finally silly small on him, so I get to put him in all his new outfits.  I love packing up and giving away his outgrown clothes.  He's the end of the long line of boys, so once he's done, we don't need them any more.  I find great satisfaction in the purging!

I love that the constant scowl he had for the first several weeks he was here has completely vanished.  He is very happy and loves to laugh!  Happy 5 months, Little Man (just trying the nickname on for size)!

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
