The nearby fire station encouraged us to come by any time for a tour, so we did. Edison was ready to move in. He still talks about it all the time, especially "driving the fire engine." They showed us the giant room full of beds where they sleep, and my kids were perplexed why they weren't invited to see their bathrooms. I am pretty sure we will be visiting their fire engines on a regular basis.
Lucky for us, the fire station is right across the street from the playground.
We had a great time at the horse races. The season is over, but we will return when it starts again in the fall. It was a great (free) outdoor activity. We never had to sit. The kids got to pick their favorite horses. Mine won, of course. Between the races, we watched the horses get brushed cleaned up for the next race. One man brought a horse over for the kids to pet.
Our favorite rock star friend, Brandon was there that day performing for another event, so we headed over to watch him.
We have a friend who is moving to the east coast (while her husband has a fellowship at Yale--wow!!). She sold everything but her children, their clothes, their current homeschool books, and their mountain bikes. We did some buying! We love our giant new world map, our mini couches, and we can't wait to pick up (and fill) our new book shelves.
Grandmother brought by some Easter treats for all the kids and adults. We had a rare afternoon without a family visit, so the kids came home from preschool to enjoy their treats. They definitely enjoyed their treats!!
Yes, we've been enjoying our pool!
We are enjoying our second year of watching caterpillars make the change into butterflies. It always seems like such a God thing to me.
Brishen is very helpful in constantly removing a sock from The Baby. I insisted that he put it back on. This is what I got.
We went to the Lenten Festival at our church. There was soooo much to do and enjoy. The kids jumped in bounce houses, made all sorts of crafts, got their faces painted, pet the animals at the petting zoo, and got to hunt for Easter eggs. They were a bit overstimulated by the end, and they may be put to bed early for days because of it!
Oh, and Jon was in the dunking booth. It seems like a good place for him to be. I need one of these at home. I'm pretty sure I have great aim.
For the most part, my children were petrified of the giant rodent. Only Basia and Edison would pose for a picture. Actually, Cassia joined Edison, but she made it perfectly clear that she was not enjoying it.
My oldest no longer hangs out with us at any church function. This time he was making kettle corn for the masses. Actually, we only saw Basia breeze by now and then, too. She had buddies, and we were not needed. It was noticeably easier this year than last. My kids are getting older, are listening better, and are easier to take places. Only Edison and Sir Smiles keep us on our toes as runaway risks.
