Field Trip Number One

We had our first homeschool field trip today.  We kept the preschoolers out of preschool so they could join us.  I'm so glad that they got to go, too.  Basia saw friends as soon as we arrived and we hardly saw her the whole time.  Cattleman's is such a fun place for kids!  When we left our house it was cloudy, but I didn't give a thought to actual rain.  By the time we arrived, it was raining really, really hard.  The field trip was still happening, so we waited in the pavilion for a while and then headed out to see the animals in the rain.  By the end of the day, there was a beautiful sky and a lovely breeze.  We are so glad that we went and that it was not cancelled.  I had a lot of shoes to wash, and my kids were caked with dirt and mud, but it was all very much worth it.

Some of my kids get in trouble for spitting, so they found it quite hilarious that the llamas also spit.

There was a lot of mud after the downpour.  Even though Zade's boots are brand new, it seemed fitting that they were getting caked in mud.  They are more authentic now.

Bunnies!  Brishen was sure he saw an evil Monty Python one among them.

I want one of these for my yard!  Can regular folks buy them somewhere??

Doesn't our covered wagon fit right in the line up?

It took us a while to figure out this head in the pond.  It sure looked like an alligator and was moving, but logic told us that there would not be alligators in the pond.  We finally realized that it was just a fake floating head.  Whew!

They took us on a great hay ride.  We saw two movie sets and traveled along areas that seemed fitting for a covered wagon to be traveling.

Basia wanted this picture for Uncle CJ.

This is part of the movie set.  It was all quite impressive!

Brishen smiled!!!!
