Happy Golden Birthday, Basia!

It only happens once in a lifetime, that birthday when your age and the date match.  Today, Basia turned 11 on the 11th!  It was her golden birthday.

We now have the tradition of giving the kids their biggest gift first thing in the morning so they can enjoy it all day.

Basia got her very own sewing machine.  I took her shopping for her first real patter and let her choose the fabric and extras to go with it.  She chose a poncho as her first project for her new machine.

There is a lot of interest in gifts around here and lots of potential "help"!

This was Basia's gift from her Uncle CJ and Aunt Saralyn.  She was slowly opening the box until she caught a glimpse.  She quickly became a crazy woman trying to get to it right away.

She set up her Playmobil zoo to add this set from Grandma.

She worked hard on her Amazon.com wish list, so I decided it would be nice to buy a couple items off it.  I did have to pass on the motorcycle, though.  Nice try, Basia.  We got her Nano Blocks meerkts and a SWAT accessory set for her Legos.  She was shocked to see things from her list in her gifts.

Our plan is to take the birthday child out to a lunch alone once they are old enough to care.  Jon and I took Basia out for lunch today.  The restaurant was an easy choice for her--Red Lobster.  She loves eating crab legs.

They gave her a free piece of cake and sang to her.

My mom made this beautiful golden cake (vodka was involved in the creating the color!).  Basia did not want to cut into it.  She felt it should remain a statue.

Happy Birthday, Basia!  We love you!!
