1. Our most recent adoption was very, very close to being postponed the evening before the big day. The sister(!) of our attorney, who is also an attorney, told him he was not allowed to call us with that news. She said that Mrs. Moore needed this adoption to happen as planned and that he was to call the courthouse and work it out somehow. Thank the lord for the woman who understood!
2. Brishen started driver's ed this week! I am prepared to be reminded of all the mistakes I am making when I drive from this point forward. He has class virtually every night this month and starts to get his driving hours after that. They have encouraged the kids to get experience now even though it is not legal. That was a lot easier back in my driver's ed days when we live a hundred miles from anywhere and had lots of abandoned roads to use for practice. I am paranoid about tickets since it is part of what they check for our foster care license. We look forward to the day when we can send him out for some Sonic drinks.
3. Baby Roo is so wild and crazy these days! The way his entire body gets into everything he does is hilarious. I'm scared I will someday drop him as he flings himself around my lap either in a temper tantrum (because I dared wipe his nose) or because he is excited about something. This child is going to love entertaining his siblings.
4. Baby Roo loves dancing. He moves one way when I tell him to jump and another way when I tell him to dance.
5. My three private school kids are not very happy to be in school. Soren is sad every morning that I send him, and Cassia is not willing to talk to anyone at school just yet. Tobias never wanted to go. Zade, on the other hand, asks each day if he gets to go to school. I've made them all upset by splitting them and showing them there are different ways of schooling. They each want the method I did not choose for them.
6. I am backing away from Facebook. This is day three of only checking it once each evening instead of throughout the day on my phone. I have a variety of reasons that don't matter to anyone else, but I'm hoping this change will be a good one.
7. I am in a weird limbo place this month. 7/8 of my kids are MINE, but we are still foster parents and have to follow group home rules. Brishen turns 16 later this month and will count as my second caregiver. I just want to reach that magical date and be one step closer to being a regular family. I annoy myself that I seem to always be ready for some other happening in the future instead of being thankful for where I am. Ugg.
8. We are going to our first Catholic homeschooling activity on Friday, other than the mom book club I already attended. I feel strange joining their group as non-Catholics, but I am excited to be part of an organized, happy, big family-friendly group that doesn't need me to lead everything. I am ready to get to know new people!
9. Brishen started drama club today. I begged Basia to join, too, but she is petrified of making a mistake in front of everyone. I don't know if this is a place where I force her, and she will one day be grateful or if I let her fear rule the day and give her the choice.
10. My parents welcome new grandkids with NMSU Aggie shirts, so Soren and Tobias recently got theirs. The kids all donned theirs over the weekend and did not understand why we weren't going to a game.
11. Basia is very career focused right now. She came back from Sea World and started lots of research and writing about various sea creatures in preparation for becoming a marine biologist. It drove her crazy that she didn't know what part of marine biology she most wanted to do. She now is thinking more along the lines of military or S.W.A.T. She gets frustrated that she cannot decide on exactly what she wants to do.
