I just saw the movie The Good Lie. Man, did it stir up all sorts of things inside of me that have been dormant since we started fostering. My heart has long been with orphans, especially those in war-torn African nations. I had tears in my eyes in the opening scene of the movie and knew that I have been neglecting a part of myself that is very dear.
I found a very important mission field right here in El Paso, but that doesn't mean that my heart for those kids in Burundi, Rwanda, Sudan, or the DRC has disappeared. Some say I have a whole football team. I now realize I have a whole lot of kids who can one day grow up to do a whole lot of good in the world. Tomorrow I will make sure Brishen also gets to see this movie. Tomorrow I will start the slow process of teaching my little ones about those in the world whose needs are greater than their own.
