About Roo at Age 1

Roo:  Age 1 (boo hoo!)

Height:  28 inches (below 5th percentile)

Weight:  19.5 pounds (between 5th and 10th percentile)

Shoe Size:  4

Clothing Size:  9-12 months

Teeth:  8

Words:  Uh-oh, Mama, Dada, Zade, no, uh-uh, all done, clap clap, bye bye, get (meaning bottle: "GET a bottle"), Batman (I know, sad), up, nigh-hight,dance, five (as in give me five)

Steps:  he's been taking two or three steps in a row and then falling or sitting for months now

Favorites:  Hickory Dickory Dock, Doggies, balls, attacking siblings, being outside, climbing

Cutest Feature:  His giant smile with those adorable gap teeth!

Superpower:  This child now eats more than any baby I've seen!  He will eat just about anything we put before him.  He still cries for bottles but also wants full meals just like the other kids.  He can wave and clap and shake his head and give kisses and hum.  He loves to dance!

Drama Level:  Roo is quite high on the at-will dramatics scale.  He can sound most devastated if a door or gate locks him out of his desired location.  His cry is in full swing the second he wakes and finds that he is not being held or with his siblings.  Diaper changes are pure torture to the little guy.

Obsessions:  Mom in the middle of the night, Dad when he first arrives home from work or enters the room, Dad's computer any time Dad is on it, his pacifiers

Room Assignment:  Roo was just moved to Tobias's room in hopes that he will stop wanting me in the middle of the night.  Tobias wakes every time Roo wakes and tries to soothe him back to sleep!

Medical:  Reflux from early infancy is now gone with no more need to see GI doctor.  No need for nebulizer meds since pertussis cleared.  Has a cheek hemangioma that is still being watched by a hematologist but will likely start shrinking now that he is one.  No medications needed!

Songs most likely to get him to sleep:  Roo has something about George Strait, which is nice because country music annoys all my other kids.  I can sing a lullaby, and he will be restless or cry.  When I start singing some George Strait (It Ain't Cool or Baby Blue) he calms right away every time.  It did backfire on a recent car trip when he calmed right away when we put George Strait on the CD, but then he became desperate for me to hold him.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
