Edison is three! This picture was taken the moment when he was handed his first gift and he realized his special day was here at last.
Yep, birthday cereal with that much dye can do that to a boy!
He's working hard to get that three-finger thing figured out.
Truly, how did my baby boy get so big??
Thanks, Grandma!
We don't do anything too big for the kids' birthdays, but sometimes it's fun to time an outing that we like to do anyway with a birthday. We love War Eagles museum and haven't been for a year or so. Since Edison loves trains, planes, and automobiles, we thought it would be a good time for a visit.
We were so happy to have the local family join us! Do you see Brishen trying to hide Asa's face? Those are the lengths we go to when trying to get a picture I can post on here! My kids are rather quick at museums. It doesn't leave much time to read the signs, talk to the experts, or enjoy museums in a leisurely, educational way. My parents returned inside to experience it a little differently once the rest of us left!
I'm not going to point out that we just found a nook of sidewalk outside of the museum to sing the birthday song or that I only brought two candles for the 3-year-old, so don't notice those things, OK?
We try to spread birthday gifts throughout the day, but Edison was pretty determined to open them all as quickly as possible. This last one from Aunt Saralyn and Uncle CJ was hidden away, so he had one last gift at the end of the day.
About Edison, Age 3
Height: short (exact measurement coming after check-up tomorrow)
Weight: 26 pounds
Hates: having his hair brushed (he'd look so cute with a big 'fro, but we have to keep it cut to keep peace in the land); most food items served at our house or at restaurants, playing outside, sitting still for any length of time, Brishen's basketball games, mom leaving him behind for any length of time with anyone at all, sleeping
Loves: PB and J, the doorbell ringing with a pizza delivery, charming everyone under the sun, baths, going with mom anywhere at all, trains, making any other toy into a train, building sculptures and science experiments out of his food, his blanket, the letter E, green ("my green!"), peeing outside no matter how inappropriate the place may be
Health: good! He has had a great year with NO asthma flare-ups. That's just amazing. Thank you Symbicort! His biggest issue now is extreme difficulty with falling asleep. He is wide awake most days while every other child naps, and it can take him hours to fall asleep at night. His little mind won't stop.
Milestones: He was slower than all my other kids, but he has finally started wanting to dress himself. He likes being one of the babies, and he fully uses that to his advantage! He can say anything and everything, knows his colors, knows most of his letter and letter sounds, can count objects, can swim underwater, knows the continents, can tell you where the Leaning Tower of Pisa and a few other architectural marvels are located, and can say lots of nursery rhymes.
