Space Hall of Fame "Journey"

Long ago, when I was the frazzled mom of one, I would sometimes need a break from all that momhood.  Jon would take Brishen on what they called a "journey" which would give me blessed time to myself at home while they explored somewhere together.  I think it happened only a time or two after Basia was born and then was a forgotten tradition.  It was revitalized on Friday!

Jon took the seven older kids on their first "journey" together.  Most destinations are better when the weather is nice, so they had to come up with somewhere indoors.  Jon decided to take them to the Space Hall of Fame in Alamogordo.  They enjoyed the museum, watched an IMAX movie, ate astronaut ice cream, got little space shuttle souvenirs, dined on pizza, and came back home.  They were planning to go to the Alamo Zoo, too, in hopes of seeing the raptors (Soren's newest passion), but the view above had them bundle up and head home instead.

I had a lovely day with Asa.  I switched the wardrobes of the five younger boys to their spring wardrobes even though it was a cold day.  It was my only chance to only have one helper instead of lots.  I watched three romantic comedies and enjoyed the relative quiet.

I look forward to the next journey!  A day in my own home almost alone is bliss!

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
