We didn't have time to take many before adoption pictures, but here is the crew before heading to the courthouse. Even Charlie jumped into the picture.
I tried to get a couple pictures of Asa before we left, but this is the best I got.
All these pictures with his coat on were taken after the adoption, when we arrived home again. He had not cooperated for a picture all day. To get these real smiles, I told him I was going to kiss him. I would take a picture and then kiss him on the cheek. He was all smiles! You also see his ambulance in his hand. That's the one he wished would have remained in his hand during the adoption proceedings!
I also have a variety of pictures of these two falling onto the floor and flailing about after this, too. I'll spare you the silliness.
Cassia and Uncle CJ
Months ago, we got the idea that it would be so much fun to get snowballs from Bahama Bucks for Asa's adoption. You know you live in the desert when your snowballs are perfectly round and come in a cooler! Oh, my, gosh! People! Buy snowballs if it doesn't snow where you are. It was soooooo much fun to have a snowball fight!
He had absolutely no clue what was going on or why we were handing him that cold ball.
Saralyn was the first casualty! We could tell it was going to be fun immediately!
He started to enjoy it!
At one point I really thought Asa was getting the point of a snowball fight. Then I noticed that he would throw his snowball to the ground and stomp on it. It was obviously hilarious to him, so I didn't complain. What I did complain about was the number of times I was pegged with a snowball. I was the innocent photographer. Others were yelling at me to get good pictures, and I couldn't defend myself a bit!
I know my oldest son and my dad well enough to be quite sure it went down between them shortly after this picture was taken.
You just can't beat the smiles and laughs! We will be doing this again!
At one point the doorbell sounded. Basia came back with a wrapped gift and said the stranger said the gift was from Timber. Timber lives in Kentucky! And she had a gift personally delivered on adoption day! She has been a huge listening ear, a source of hope, and a prayer warrior throughout Asa's case and the other cases before his. This was the icing on the cake and stunned me! This is where the new blog name was born. I'm in love!
I had mentioned to people that I was going to start a fire to burn all those foster care papers, but I don't think they thought I was serious.
I was serious! Very serious!
I am sooooooo sick of these forms! Medication logs. Burned! Child status reports. Burned! Serious incident forms. Burned! Training manuals (I could about repeat them word for word after our 5th time taking the classes). Burned!
I'm sure you are sick of fire pictures. I'm not. I like to see those papers burn!
The excitement of the day wore out some of my little ones.
