Simply Today 8/12

School still leaves plenty of time for petting chickens.

I decided to try to take pictures of the kids with any of the art work they create and love so we can look back on it in the future.  Lord knows I would be buried if I tried to save all of them.

I want to enjoy this season, but I think we are all looking forward to some cooler fall temperatures.  The kids play a lot of dodge ball when we are in the church courtyard.

Asa gave me a sweet, masked smile, but he was feeling pretty droopy this morning.  He spent a lot of time snuggled close.  I sent him home after lunch to hang out with Jon-in-quarantine.  I think some time alone was just what he needed.

These three planned their own matching shirts.  Jotham took off his cap, but they had their Chicago hats, too.

Adjusting to school has been a little tough for me this year.  The kids have plenty of down time during our school day.  They have an hour or more outside, quiet reading time, time on their Kindles, time for art and creative expression, and free play time.  Meanwhile I am trying to work in the whole checklist below.  I am already making adjustments.  The 5th graders, for sure, are moving back to "as needed" help for math rather than me going through the lesson each day.  They don't really need that right now.  We'll see if I can do the same with the 4th graders.  I am looking at some other tweaks to make the day go more quickly.  This is certainly a full time job!

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
