Observation

Here's my latest observation:

Long walk = lots of time to think + extra energy = Temporary insanity!!

I just got back from my third 8-mile walk in three days. I noticed a pattern in my thoughts that is quite disturbing.

1st long walk of the week: I decided that I really would like to have more children. I told Jon that I thought we should get a homestudy with the state to see if we could luck out and adopt a couple more little ones. I also told him that we should look into our fertility issues to see if there was some easy fix. You know, work both angles at the same time.

2nd long walk of the week: I decided that I really want Basia to have a basketball coach who spends most of each practice teaching the very basics of dribbling, passing, and shooting. I decided that I would volunteer to coach her team next year. There's no better way of insuring she gets the kind of coach I would like than to do that coaching myself.

3rd long walk of the week: I decided that I would volunteer to teach an 11 o'clock Sunday School class at church for 2nd-5th graders using Veritas Press curriculum and methods.

Now if that isn't proof of a new mental condition called "walker's insanity," I don't know what is. Just remember, if I call you with some wild, hair-brained scheme, please ask me if I have just taken a long walk. If I have, I cannot be held responsible for anything I say (or volunteer to do)!
