Rawhide for Kids?

I'm wondering if there is something like a rawhide bone that works for kids. I bought each dog a rawhide bone (very rare treat) today, and each one has found a corner of the house or yard and has sat quietly and very happily working on their bone the entire day.

As we pack and clean and basically ignore our kids a bit too much, it would be nice if we had some little treat that we could hand them that they could blissfully take into their own little corner for the day to enjoy quietly for hours. Is that too much to ask?

At our house, it's called the Nintendo DS and the Leapster. They would play all day! That just leaves the girls...

That's a funny comparison, though. :) I like how your mind works!

Give them a bag of unshelled pecans and a fancy nutcracker. That kept my girls entertained forever this last time we were in Clovis.

See, I was thinking that the Wii would work in that way for Brishen. I can't think of anything in the universe that would hold Basia's attention for too long, though. Robin, I once tried to pay my kids to shell my pecans, and they weren't interested. Maybe they need one of those fancy nutcrackers for incentive.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
