I'm on a mini-mission to bring more arts, crafts, and hands-on activities to the school of my little 1st grader. She is sorely deprived in that area. She made no little handprint turkeys for Thanksgiving. She didn't decorate a single non-cookie Christmas item all December long. That's right, her teacher stinks in the hands-on arena.
But, it's a new year, a new month, a new week, and a new day. That means it's time for new goals. I got up this morning, had an empty drawer to fill for her school work, and I decided to find her a craft. Shocking, huh? As I searched the internet (note that I have to search the internet because I got rid of every single kiddie craft book I owned when I moved), I found out all sorts of important things about January that I never knew. January is:
Celebration of Life Month
Clean up your Computer Month
Creativity Month
Eye Care Month
High Tech Month
Hobby Month
Mentoring Month
Oatmeal Month
Soup Month
Staying Healthy Month
Thank You Month
So, let's get busy celebrating January and life with healthy oatmeal and soup while we're creatively mentoring our eyes, while thankful for our high tech and clean computers. Oh, and start a new hobby, like spending hours a day planning and cleaning up after hands-on crafts for your little 1st graders.
